Just One Soul
Holaaaa Familia!!
This was quite a week! Blink of an eye yet so much happens, like always. First things first, transfers are tomorrow aaaaahhh!! We got the call on Sunday morning that Sister Dorsey will be leaving and I will be staying in our area. Sad but we've learned a lot from each other and seen miracles and God has more in store for us in the future! Less than an hour ago President Hillier called and extended the call to me to be a TRAINER!! I just finished my training and now I'm getting a greenie!! I'm actually so excited, greenie's are the best and I'm looking forward to getting a boost to my missionary spirit.
My mission is so funny, around transfer time, when the missionaries change areas and companions, people spread the word about who is going where and they call it "transfer doctrine".
I have since given up on trying to explain everything that happens in missionary life. This week I would say our focus was on [E], our investigator who is moving today! I think I started explaining it last week, but Sister Dorsey and I continued to feel inspired to ask him to be baptized before he left in the lesson we had this week. He has so much faith and understands what we teach on such a deeper level than most people because he has such a desire to learn. If you can't tell, we love him so much! I can't even put this into words Unfortunately, he still felt hesitant and felt he needed to be more ready for the big step of baptism. All of us have grown closer to God together and the time we have had to teach him has been so special. We are so sad we couldn't be the ones to be at his baptism, we are going to send his information to the missionaries in St. George and we are so so excited to hear of the day he gets baptized. He has changed so much and the Lord has been preparing him for a long time to listen to the missionaries. It is simply a privilege for us to be placed in his path. As we said goodbye last night and shared our testimonies we were all crying. He said, "I hope you understand that you may have changed my life for the rest of eternity and for this I will always by very very grateful." And in that same moment I suddenly understood why missionaries of old felt that even if we bring "save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father" (D&C 18)!! Because right then I realized that I would go through everything on my mission, all the long days, rejection, stress, people changing their minds, or anything else just for that one person. Just for the joy of bringing even one soul unto Christ!!
Our area is doing well, there's enough work for our four missionaries to be doing, the ward is growing, we have more ward missionaries to help us, and our bishop is the best.
Little miracles while we were trying to contact some referrals, I was feeling down because we weren't finding anyone at home, and it was cold outside, and we were a long way from home and we only had our two feet to take us there. But then, moments after I thought a short prayer in my head, God, sending us some help would be really nice right now, a couple pulled up beside us and said, Hey sisters do you want a ride? God hears prayers and God takes care of His missionaries! To any who worry or pray for me, know that we are well taken care of in the Salt Lake City East mission.
Little note about technology, it's exciting to be using smartphones and Facebook and everything now, especially the new function on Lds tools for members to send missionaries to their friends super easily. I encourage you all to check it out!
I know Jesus Christ lives and loves us. Remember Him primarily this season. #Illuminaelmundo
Love you all,
