Babies Training Babies
Feliz Navidad y Paz en la Tierra!
WOW what a week. Classic missionary ups and downs. I love training!!! Let me introduce the wonderful Hermana Coleman, my greenie! She is from Laie, Hawaii, and she also came from the Mexico Mtc, like I did. The moment we met each other we had a feeling we would be companions, it was pretty cool. I was so excited and I was sure I would like the leadership opportunity and be influenced by that greenie fire again. My expectations were high and yes it's been cool, but of course I found that it is also hard. I'm new myself and though I know my area, it's been a challenge to have the whole responsibility on my shoulders. I told her off the bat that we'll be learning together and I'm pretty sure God wants me to learn from her more than she needs to learn from me haha. I'm learning to teach Hermana Coleman and I have been super proud of her, she has a powerful testimony about afflictions becoming blessings. Our first night I had her share a spiritual thought at dinner and she had the whole room crying. She is pretty concerned about the language though. I'm glad she's here, she is helping me probably more than I can help her. Some nights she's the one comforting me, the stressed senior companion. Sometimes I feel like "O Lord, forgive my unworthiness" (Alma 38).
Quick note about Spanish, I took a minute to realize how much I have been improving in the language. Sometimes I still have to repeat myself because I don't makes sense but some of the members who have known me for a while have commented on my progress. It's crazy that I am preaching the gospel in ANOTHER LANGUAGE and it's normal. Sometimes I forget how amazing it is that God helps so many missionaries learn languages so fast. I have also been so thankful for the classes I took in college, which blessed me to really hit the ground running in my mission.
We have normal ups and downs with investigators. Quick miracle story, we had some people fall off date because they didn't come to church on Sunday, but our companionship goal for the month of December was 3 baptisms. But none of our other investigators had church attendance. Then suddenly, a former who had moved away for a while showed up at church! And he has church attendance! We have a lesson this week and are planning to put him on date. MILAGRO God blesses the goals we make.
Mom I'll tell you more about this in detail but we had a really cool mission Christmas devotional on Wednesday and Kenneth Cope came to give us a private concert! And we got a huge surprise when Tad R. Callister showed up to give us a talk all about the Atonement! We took mission photos with the all of the missionaries in our entire mission, which will happen again never. We all got to sing Called to Serve together, so special!
Friday we had a ward Christmas party which was really good, met a lot of potential investigators who were friends of the members.
Training is rough and sometimes I still have no idea what I'm doing but I trust in the Lord and we always end up with miracles. I'm happy as long as I know I'm trying my hardest. I want you all to know I love you, but most importantly I love my Savior. Yo se que Jesucristo vive y que el fue nacido para salvarnos. No hay otra manera que El. Hay felicidad durdadera gracias a El.
"I would say somewhat unto you concerning the coming of Christ. Behold, I say unto you, that it is he that surely shall come to take away the sins of the world; yea, he cometh to declare glad tidings of salvation unto his people...there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness (Alma 38)
I love you all and have a wonderful Christmas!! I get to see my family's lovely faces in a week!
Send me your testimonies,
