Two White Girls Speaking Spanish in Wyoming

Hellooooooo Family!
Even if you're friends reading this, by now you can be my family haha :) If you haven't heard by now, I have been transferred to Green River, WYOMING! Wow I LOVE IT HERE!! And I'm not even kidding! It's almost the opposite of my first area, but I think I needed that drastic change! Green River is one of those "boonie" areas(3 hours out of Salt Lake- I didn't realize it was that far!) that most missions have lol. It's a town about half the size of where I grew up, and it has a small town feel that I actually really like. It is also gorgeous in a desert way. I kept having the feeling of deep connection with God because in the scriptures mountains and deserts were places of spiritual inspiration and growth. I'm excited for how I can come to know God here!
The people are amazing. I almost cried tears of happiness the first time we had dinner with a big family this week because that never happened in Millcreek. It was all apartments over there, so big families with kids don't live there. We did have pretty consistent dinner with people from our Spanish ward, but they would rarely eat with us. It was good Hispanic food though. Here, we get fed by English families, which reminds me so much of my own family feeding the missionaries. Lots of kids and super Mormon houses with Families are Forever quotes and stuff haha. But bye bye Hispanic food. I was getting so good with spicy!
Ok I guess I should explain our work here. We are covering the Green River stake, but we don't actually have a Spanish ward here. We are starting one!! Sounds daunting, but the challenge actually makes me way excited. There have only been Spanish missionaries here since September, so the work here is way new. So lots of finding ideas to try! We've been working with members a ton this week and getting referrals, so that's exciting. I have been shocked at how nice and helpful people are here. It's so nice to work with such willing members! I am so glad I am bilingual, because missionaries like that is exactly what this place needs. Inviting people to come unto Christ in Spanish, and working with the members in English. I have been struggling with my English here to be honest haha, because I really only speak Spanglish now lol.
As for STL-ing, Hermana Wilson and I are over two zones, which includes four companionships of Sisters. I am excited to serve them and learn from them. Because we all know God really put me in this leadership position to learn. We cover a lot of area out here, serving Sisters from Rock Springs all the way back to Park City, UT. We'll see how it goes!

OH I should introduce my companion, Sister Wilson is from Alabama, and she is almost done with her mission! She has two transfers left so I might "kill" her. I am ready to soak up her wisdom haha. Kind of funny, she was my first Sister Training Leader, and now we are STL's together!
So the title comes from a member our first day here who was like wow, we have cute white girls speaking spanish here in Wyoming! Miracles have gotta happen with that combination, right?  It's hard to describe this place exactly, and we didn't get a lot of pictures yet, but you can just picture me in a trailer park speaking spanish in a blessed corner of Wyoming :)
I was on a spiritual high half this week because I just felt so much that this place is exactly where I'm supposed to be! Missionary work is the best! I testify of the power of praying for specific things, because before I even got my mission call I prayed that I would be sent to the humble and the elect. The elect are in Salt Lake and the humble are right here in Wyoming. We have some cool people we are working with, I'll give more details next week!
The gospel is true, Christ lives, prophets speak, and nothing can stop the work of God. Best thing I heard this week: "It is not true that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. He does. He just doesn't give us more than we can handle without Him"
Mucho amor!!
